Identify, describe and discuss a selected group from your local social service agency. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using groups in general, and this type of group in particular. With the group that you have selected describe the group dynamics and at least one (1) major success or setback experienced by the group. Critically reflect upon this success or setback, identifying at least one (1) factor which may have produced it, and how you might reproduce the success, or reduce the likelihood of the setback in the future.
The local service agency I choose is the save a child foundation in India. They work for the rights of the children including their protection and education. Having a group in the society has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that groups will have much more impact, than the individual. Groups will help in developing more novel ideas and the can execute more due to more human resources. They have the ability to create more awareness and can prove beneficial if work in a rightful manner. The disadvantage is that since there is a lot of people the decision making is delayed. There is also a high risk of conflict of interest. Groups like the save a child foundation have a great deal of influence of media coverage and elite connections, therefore their results are more rapid than the individuals. However, there are piles of cases that are sack up due to the high number of cases reported to them.
Save a child foundation is an influential organization in the country, therefore, there is a huge number of people who seek their help. However, due to less number of resources in terms of human and finances, some cases take really long time to be won. Therefore, the foundation should recruit more people to make the process faster. They should also take the help of the government and other activities to increase the funds for their organization.
