To diagnose heart failure, doctor will take a careful medical history, review the symptoms and perform a physical assessment also check for the presence of risk factors, such a high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, or diabetes. using stethescope it self can understand abnormal heart sounds.

After the physical assessment docor will order some of these tests- blood tests, chest x-ray, ECG, Echocardiogram, stress test, coronary angiogram, myocardial biopsy etc...

The most common types of blood tests used to assess heart conditions are cardiac enzyme tests (including troponin tests)-these help diagnose or exclude a heart attack full blood count(FBC)-this measures diffrent types of blood levels and can show ,for example if there is an infection or if you have anaemia.

substance detected by blood test patient symptoms

ischemia modified albumin chest pain or potential heart attck

natriuretic peptides (BNP and pro-BNP) shortness of breath :possible heart failure

Lipids (cholesterol ,HDL ,LDL) current or future risk of atherosclerosis

An echocardiogram is a common test. it gives a picture of your heart using ultrasound,a type of X-ray .it uses a probe either on your chest or down your oesophagus (throat)it helps your doctor check if there are any problems with your heart's valves and chambers, and see how strongly your heart pumps blood.

Electrocardiogram (ECG )to assess the heart rate and rhythm. This test can often detect heart disease heart attack an enlarged heart or abnormal heart rhythms that may cause heart failure chest X-ray to see if the heart is enlarged and if the lungs are congested with fluid.

ECG records the electrical activity of your heart at rest. it provides information about your heart rate and rhythm, shows if there is enlargementof the heart due to high blood pressure(hypertension) or evidence of a previous heart attack(myocardial infraction). A normal ECG is one that shows what is known as sinusrhythm. sinus rhythm may look like a lot of little bumps, but each relays an important action in the heart. P waves are the first bumb on the ECG.

An electrocardiogram (ECG) measures your heart's electrical activity.sometimes an ECG abnormality is a normal variation of heart's rhythm, which does not affect your health.Other times an abnormal ECG can signal a medical emergency such as a myocardial infarction (heart attack)or a dangerous arrhythmia
