Consider the video that you watched about domestic violence. In the video she says "I didn't know he was abusing me". Imagine she is your patient at a Women's Clinic. She comes in for cough and cold symptoms but you notice bruises when you are listening to her lungs. Explain how you would approach the patient and talk to her about what she is likely experiencing at home based on your assessment.
Whether you suspect that a patient is being abused or you witnessed someone being abused you can take steps to help,
according national domestic violence hot line some warning signs are,their partner insult them in front of other people,their partner is extreamly jealous or possesssive,they depressed and anxious or you notice changes in their personality,
You caan help that person by, set up time to talk ,let her know youre concerned about her safety, be supportive,other specific help, dont place shame blame or guilt, help her make a safety plan, encourage her to talk to someone who can help,if she decided to to stay continue to be supportive,Encourage her to do thhings outside of the relationship,If she decided to leave continue to offer help,let her know that you will always be there no matter what.
Diagnose the victims medical condition provide treatment prescribe medication or refer to specialists the OWH help line number 911 or go to th nearest emergency room if any medical emergency.
