Discuss how they serve as either opportunities or barriers in the fight against
the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the group’s country. ( about a page)
I need some references as well. Thanks in advance
In United States several policy and challenges have been faced in the third decade for the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the health care sector and foreign policy area. Various programmes have been implemented for the prevention, treatment and new research for the epidemic. The major challenges have been taken by USA globally for the epidemic of HIV/AIDS. Since the beginning of epidemic about 800,000 AIDS cases have been found in USA, among them more than 450,000 patients die. HIV/AIDS have been given severe effect on some groups such as gay, bisexual, drugs injection users and their sexual partners. Current research data indicated that death rate have been reduced with better therapeutic treatments. With the above context these are several challenges. The major challenge for the prevention of HIV is collision between public health science and politics. The HIV transmission involves with sex and drugs, these aspects have been included in several policy. There is utmost urgent for the research for the development of new behavioural and prevention strategies such as exclusive antiviral and vaccines. In USA there are several peoples have been remained undiagnosed and untreated. Several peoples have different barriers such as economic problems and have no insurance. If someone has some resources, due to high cost of treatment of HIV, they quickly exhaust their assets and finally they depend on the Medicare. Major factor in the Medicare for the poor people’s for their eligibility to wait for until they become disable by AIDS for the coverage of treatment for disability. There are various new strategies addressing the several issues such as increasing number of HIV patients by providing more information to the common public. Several counselling counters have been opened for the awareness of prevention of HIV. Improving the access to treatment: Presently several progresses have been seen with new policy of treatment for the HIV patients in developing counties. The cost treatment and other medications related to HIV treatment have been come to affordable level for most of peoples. With this context several strategies have been explored to make affordable cost of treatment with generic drugs to HIV patients. In addition, UNAIDS and several counties have been given their efforts to reduce antiretroviral drug and other HIV medicine with the help of several drug manufacturing industries.
