Obesity has become an epidemic disease which has threatens to overwhelm health care sectors by increasing the incidence of several chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and cancer. Obesity itself has become a chronic disease like as hypertension and atherosclerosis. The major causing factor of the obesity is disproportion of energy intake form of foods and the energy outputs. The excess energy is stored in fat cells which increase in number day by day. By this happening, enlarged fat cells occur which produce the several clinical complications which are associated with obesity in the form of extra weight or mass of fat.

Current state process used to define the sequence of workflow which has been developed to present the current strategies in the prevention and treatment of obesity. This give a comlete structure of major causes with full timelines and duration of treatment.

Presently there are several awareness programmes has been organised through seminars and symposium to initiate an ongoing national dialogue on coordination of obesity prevention among governments and non?government organisations in various countries.

The major objectives for these programmes are:

  • To identify the challenges and primary policy areas in overweight and obesity prevention which may be influenced by effective social marketing
  • To explore in the global level the most effective methods for obesity through social marketing
  • To explore effective mechanisms to achieve national strategic alignment of social marketing initiatives in obesity prevention in government and NGO sectors.

There are several significant initiatives have been taken for the awareness and prevention of obesity in various countries. Now more than 60 social marketing and public health professionals have been working from the commonwealth, state and territory health departments, non?government organisations, academia and industry. A long with that various mass media campaigns are going on against obesity which has been designed to impact at the large number of peoples.
