A healthy lifestyle is the key to healthy life. This concept is most accepted and proven one by mainly of the theorists who focus their attention towards bringing mass changes in health outcome by improving the inactive lifestyles. The physical activity is thought be a significant factor that adds or subtracts a health issue in an individual. The ecological model refers to the people's interactions to their physical and sociocultural surroundings. The interventions will be most effective when it will operate on multiple levels. According to the ecological model the most powerful intervention will be to ensure safe, attractive and convinient space for physical activity, to apply motivational and educational programs to encourage the use of these places and the use of mass media communication and community organization to change social norms and culture. The ecological model of active living is being widely used for successful implementation of various health promotional programs like tobacco control, obesity control.

The four main domains of active living are recreation, transport, occupation and household. These domains aims at reducing the occurance of health issue resulting from sendentary lifestyle. The ecological model utilizes these domain to create mass awareness about implementating various methods of physical activity which would prevent the individuals from the risk of developing health related issue due to inactive lifestyle.

The primary care clinic should provide awareness by motivational and educational programs about the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle and ways to bring changes in their present lifestyle. While focussing on a the domains of active living the use of aerobic dancing, swimming or exercise for atleast 20 mins for two to three days a week will prove beneficial. The transportation methods show be changed to use of walking and cycling, various occupational activities like agriculture, building works, gardening, other household works like manual washing of clothes, brooming etc can increase the physical activity of an individual which will foster a active living and keep them healthy.
