1. How does the public judge patient outcomes? What role does nursing play in meeting or exceeding patient expectations?
2. Should healthcare employees be rewarded for improved patient satisfaction scores or patient outcomes? If so, what are some suggestions on how to reward them?
(1) Patient satisfaction is a priority for healthcare practitioners.About the patient outcomes, the public judge the clinical outcome by their satisfaction results. The concept of patient experience is complex and generally linked with patient satisfaction. The measurement and understanding of the patient, carer, and family experience of healthcare provides the opportunity for reflection and improvement of nursing care and patient outcomes. The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Quality Strategy, has brought a focus on the need to deliver care that provides a quality patient experience. They identified six priorities that include: a)providing safe care; b)ensuring individuals and families are engaged as partners in their care; c)promoting effective and comfortable communication and coordination of care; d)promoting prevention; e)working with communities to promote healthy living; and f)making quality care more affordable.
Nurses, the primary carer in all health promoting environments, including hospitals, clinics, and community settings, have responded in various ways to regulatory and clinical mandates. The patients care by nurses who are in a work environment with adequate staffing, good administrative support, and positive relations between physicians and nurses reported higher satisfaction with their care. Nurses who do not successfully engage with patients to form strong, trusting bond, risk eroding the experience, and the relationship. A negative experience with the nursing staff results in a negative evaluation of the entire organization. That’s why it is so important for nurses to see how they affect the patient experience.
(2) The healthcare employees should be rewarded for improved patient satisfaction scores or patient outcomes so that they can continuously do their work with more energy and motivation. The reward is not only for the good work butt aalso it inspire the other employees todo better work. There are so many ways to reward the employess such as :-
