Is there any difference between doing what is morally right and doing what will make one happy?
MORALLY RIGHT
The term moral correction or morally right is something which can
be seen as the synonym of what is correct according to law and
rules i.e. when something is ethical and follows rules and
regulations. It is not important that the condition which is
morally correct may same time bring happiness for everyone. Because
every individual is different from other so what one thing makes
one happy may bring grief for others. One does one's duty when one
acts according to the moral rules. The main idea behind morality is
confirming to the rules. Morality is concerned with identifying and
obeying rules. It is right to obey the rules and wrong to disobey
them. Anything can be regarded as right or wrong on the basis that
to what extent it conforms to the moral rules.
HAPPY
Happiness is state of mind in which person is both mentally and
emotionally stable. In Greek happiness refers to the good life, or
flourishing. According to Aristotle, Pleasure is not a good in
itself, he argued, since it is by its nature incomplete. But
worthwhile activities are often associated with their own
distinctive pleasures. Hence, we are rightly guided in life by our
natural preference for engaging in pleasant activities rather than
in unpleasant ones. According to him, virtue can lead to true
happiness. Happiness is achieving what we desire leading a good and
normal life in which what one aspires can achieve it, so Aristotle
also argued that happiness is achieved through good life and good
life comes when a person is rationally active.
So when we are talking about morally right things it is not
necessary that it will also account for happiness for everyone.
