areas. Each card will be worth 1
point. You will not receive the
points for the cards if they are not submitted
within the week when
due.
· Cards must be handwritten, legible, and on ruled index cards.
· All information required on the card must be completed or you will not receive the point for the card.

Generic name: - Rosuvastatin
Brand name:- Crestor
Classifications:-
Therapeutic:- To reduce the Low-density lipids in the blood and to increase the high-density lipids and to lower triglycerides in the blood.
Pharmaceutic:-HMG- CoA Reductase inhibitors( statins).
Indications:-Hyperlipidemia, slower the progression of atherosclerosis, lower the risk of heart attack, stroke
Contraindications:- liver disease, high levels of liver enzymes, pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney disease, alcohol intake, thyroid disorder.
Adverse reactions:-
CNS: Headache, insomnia, depression, hypertonia, anxiety, vertigo, neuralgia.
Cardiovascular: Hypertension, angina,vasodialation, palpitation.
GI: abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, gastritis.
Musculoskeletal: muscle pain, Arthralgia, arthritis, weakness.
Respiratory: Pharyngitis, rhinitis, increased cough, dyspnoea, pneumonia
Liver problems include upper abdominal pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice.
Safe dosage range:-
Adult: Initially 5 to 10mg once daily with or without food.
Geriatric: 5 mg once daily.
Paediatric 10-17 years: 5-20 mg once daily
3 Nursing implications:
1)Monitor and report signs and symptoms of myopathy.
2)Advise not to take antacids 2 hrs taking the drug.
3)Advice not to breastfeed while taking the drug
