Research has shown that color affects our mood. Picture a room where you like to relax. What is the ultimate place of tranquility like for you? Close your eyes and visualize it. What color are the walls? What color are the floors? Do you see any pictures or hear any sounds? Where is this room? Describe the colors in this room, and how the room makes you feel, in detail.
There are ample studies which have shown that colors do affect our mood states. Colors are also associated with the emotions that we feel and experience, like it said that we are in pink of health, meaning that we are healthy and glowing. Anger is denoted by color red, health by color pink and so on and so forth.
Similarly, if given a choice, I would want my room to be colored in cream color. I would like to have a textured wall, cream in color and adorned with a painting of red rose. The lights have to be dim and soothing with a yellowish tinge. The music has to be soft and relaxing. I would prefer instrumental music of violin. I would prefer my room to be having a white marble flooring with soft pink colored rugs and carpets. I would want a recliner to be placed in one corner of the room and some romantic novels on the side rack.
I would want my room to be in a farm house with the sounds of nature filtering into the room through the curtained windows.
The room must have a lingering fragrance of lavender.
Being in such a room relaxes me to the core. Here I would like to meditate and at times read my favorite romantic novels. This is the place which will be close to my heart.
