What are the basic differences between SNAr reaction with SN1 and SN2 reactions?
The basic difference between the SNAr and SN1 and SN2 can be written as
In case of SNAr , First addition of nucleophile will be there then the elimination process will be done to remove halide group from aromatic molecule.
In case of SN1, it follows with single substrate only , Initially it forms carbocation then the molecule is attacked by nucleophile. Then deprotonation will be done to get the mixture of retention and inversion product. It need weak nucleophile and polar protic solvent.
In case of SN2 , it is done bimolecular substrate and under polar aprotic solvent. This mechanism undergoes intermediate state where both addition of nucleophile as well as removal of halide group simultaneously done.
The mechanism of these three process are given below
