"Connectedness is the state of being connected and having a close relationship with people or other things". Or we can simply say connectedness is the state of being joined or linked .   

Connectedness is one of the most fundamental human desire for interpersonal relationship with others.it occurs when a person gets actively involved with other person , group ,object or environment ,and this will promote a sense of comfort ,wellbeing or helps in reducing the anxiety .

Connectedness play a key role in the development of adolescent and also in the development of positive mental health .connectedness is very important because it helps adolescents to form a good social relationship , helps them to improve the strength of existing connection and also helps to develop additional connections to the wider community sources .connectedness also have a lasting effect ; for example adolescent who feel connected at school and at home are 66 % less likely to experience health risk behaviour which are releated to sexual health , substance abuse ,violence and mental health issues in adolescent .

Connectedness also associated with positive mental health and wellbeing .many studies have show that low level of connectedness are linked to negative social and psychological outcome in adolescent and in others . The World Health Organization suggest that the connectedness especially the family connectedness is one of the top five protective factor for the wellbeing of adolescents and youth and thus it promote positive mental health and reduce depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation,non - suicidal self injury and conduct problems .it is also important to promote higher self esteem and more adaptive use of free time .
