1. CLASSIFICATION:-
- Domain - Bacteria
- phylum - Proteobacteria
- class - Gammaproteobacteria
- order - Enterobacteriales
- family - Enterobacterisceae
- genus - Klebsiella
- Species - Klebsiella pneumoniae

HISTORY:- The genus klebsiella was named after the German bacteriologist Edwin klebs.
- Friedlander proposed that it causes pneumoia.

2. SIGNIFICANCE:-
- klebsiella causes infection mostly in middle aged and older individuals, immunocompromised patients etc.
- Mostly infection are nosocomial.
- Feces are the most significant source of patient infection, followed by contact with contaminated instruments.

3. VIRULENCE:- Klebsiella pneumoniae is pathogenic.
- it causes pneumoia.

TREATMENT:-
- if infection is not drug resistant then can be treated with antibiotics.
- ampicillin,piperacillin/tazobactum, ceftazidime, levofloxacin.

4. Klebsiella pneumoiae is found im most of the world but more commonly in US, south china, south africa, asia etc.

5. There is a great agricultural interest in klebsiella pneumoniae which is found naturally in soil, as it has been proven to increase crop yields.
