ARRHYTHMIA
It is the condition of abnormal heart rhythm that caused due to problem in heart's electrical system which occurs due to heart disease.
CAUSES:
The causes of ARRHYTHMIA (abnormal heart rhythm) may be due to following reasons:
1. Blocked electrical signal, abnormal electrical signal pathway or irritable heart cells that send out signal when the signal is not required.
2. Coronary artery spasm which causes block in the coronary artery.
3. Some medicines and stimulants such as caffeine, alcohol may be the other reason of the disease.
TYPES:
There are 4 types of ARRHYTHMIA which are described below:
1. Premature beats are most common type of arrhythmia which occur from stress, too much exertion or use of stimulants such as caffeine.
2. Supraventricular tachycardias is the condition of fast heart rate.
3. Ventricular rhythm issue causes to stop the pumping of the blood in ventricle that causes cardiac arrest.
4. Bradycardia is the condition when hert bet is too slow result in decrease of blood supply to the brain.
DIAGNOSIS:
ARRHYTHMIA can be detected by following test:
1. Electrocardiogram
2. Stress test
3. Tilt test
4. Electrophysiology study
TREATMENT:
Medicines are used to maintain the normal heart rate in short or long term.
Implantable medical devices such as artificial pacemaker for slow heart rate and implantable cardiac defibrillator for severe arrhythmia can be used to treat some type of arrhythmia.
