Fire sprinkler is the combination of water supply system and sprinkler. The water supply system consist of pressurized water. Sprinkler are initially closed by a low melting point alloy or fusible glass.

Working

When fire takes place in an apartment, the temperature will rise. If the temperature reach certain limit, the sprinkler will open and pressurized water will come out. Thus fire will be extinguished. The response of this system is not more than four minutes, which is far less than fire department response.

Types:

Wet fire sprinkler

These are commonly used fire sprinkler. The simple fire sprinkler system consist of water supply and automatic valves are known as wet fire sprinkler. It is simple in operation and more reliable.

Dry fire sprinkler

When the external temperature is very low and it will freeze the water present in supply system, this type of fire sprinkler is used. Water is not present in this system until the system operates. Instead, air is filled in supply system, below water supply pressure. When the system operates, the water comes to supply system and extinguish the fire. It is the complex system.

Deluge system

In this system, the valves are open. Water is not present in the supply system before the operation. The water is controlled by a deluge valve, which controls the flow of water. This are used in highly hazardous areas.

Water foam sprayers

In this system, water is mixed with the foam and supplied to the system. This type of systems are used in areas that are highly prone to fuel fire and chemical fire.
