Affirmative actions means 'positive intervention' or 'positive steps' that are taken by the state for the upliftment of the backward and vulnerable section's of the society. This Affirmative actions are backed by the constitutional provisions in the United States of America, with the concept of funadamental rights like right to equality, freedom, speech, equal protection of laws, due process of law etc, the vulnerables are protected. From the historic slave trade to the race based discrimination affirmative actions by the government has prevented the right to life of many individuals in the country. Now some of the reasons why this affirmative actions are necessary in the society are because of :-

1. Lack of awareness/ education amoung the deprived and vulnerable class of people.
2. Economic backwardness amoung the vulnerables.
3. Corruption in the policy implimentation process.
4. Poor social infrastrucure.
5. Poverty, malnutrition, stunting, wasting, high mortality rate amoung the vulnerables.
6. Insufficient health related infrastructures like hospitals, mobile clinics etc.
