Which heart chambers contain deoxygenated blood?
Heart is the central circulatory organ. It generally collects and redistributes blood by pumping itself in a synchronous way. Most higher animals have division in their heart structure which are called the chambers. Generally the heart is divided into Atrium and Ventricle.
Higher mammalian has two atria and two ventricles. Atria collect blood from all over the body or from lungs and ventricles pumps the blood out again to the body or to the lungs. The atria and ventricles are divided into either left or right structure.
The Left atrium collects blood from the lungs and the right atrium collects blood from the whole body. The left ventricle pumps blood out to the whole body whereas right ventricle sends blood to the lungs. Deoxygenated blood comes and right atrium collects it and sends it to the right ventricle which is then sent to the lungs for reoxygenation.
So, the right atrium and right ventricle collects deoxygenated blood.
