In: Anatomy and Physiology
the difference between columnar epithelium and transitional epithelium is as follow:-
Pseudo Stratified Epithelium are found in ducts of parotid salivary glands, parts of male urethra, trachea, large bronchi |
Transitional Epithelium are found in renal calyces, renal pelvis, ureters, urinary bladder and part of urethra |
it is simple in structure | it is compound in structure |
they consist of basement membrane | it do not have basement membrane |
they are ciliated or may be non ciliated | it is always non ciliated. |
it is not able to stretching | capable of stretching. |
Transitional Epithelium Definition- the cell which is made up of multiple layers and can change its shape depending on the shape of the organ is called as Transitional Epithelium. it has stretching property.
Pseudo Stratified Epithelium Definition- the cell which is made up of only single layer of cell which are in direct contact of basement membrane and appear to be stratified due to different position of cell.
