This week we read two articles (one very short, and one
mid-sized) about the concept of dignity, and a second about the
provision of "false hope" in nursing practice. Please read the two
articles, and then answer one of the two questions below in ~400
words:
1. Is providing false hope consistent with treating patients with
maximum human dignity? Does it make a difference if a doctor or
nurse is providing it? Why or why not? Refer to the articles in
answering.
2. Which of the ethical theories that we have visited with prior to
this week captures the concerns raised about dignity best?
Why?
(1) The nature of the law means it is unlikely can bring a successful lawsuit against the doctors or nurses for offering false hope , intead of cold reality to the patient , There are two element to proving malpractice . the first the patients ( plaintiff) must prove that the doctor ( defendant ) made an error and the second element is that the error lead to harm .
A doctor accused of being too opeful , eill probably explain that in his or her proffesional judgement , the patiennt could not emotionally handled more truth than the delivered and the doctor will claim that when he tried to be more direct , the patient denied reality and theclearly only wanted to hear positive news. giving the false hope leads to the patient mind in doubt because they trusted fully on the medical staff that they don't be let go anything with them . but in few cases it goes in it snegaive impact , that somtimes on teh death of the patient , patient's realtives or attendent claims on medical staff that they lie with them and intentionally do so for making the money.
(2) The concept of human dignity , as one of the most important professional values , and has a become a part of the ethical issues in the field of education and as well as nursing practice ,.AS due to the human nature in the nursing proffession , the dignity is of interest inall counyries of the world ,Human dignity is a kind of vague , and a complex , multidimensional , and fundamental concept in the nursing profession . iT means having respect for human individuality and training each individual as a unique human being .
