What are health disparities? What are health inequities? What’s the difference, if any?
Birth outcomes, like other health indicators, follow the wealth-health gradient. Explain why wealthier and more educated mothers have better outcomes. According to the film, why do African American women at each income level have worse outcomes than their white counterparts?
How are pregnancy outcomes affected by racism and chronic stress? How are racial differences in birth outcomes not reducible to class alone?

What are health disparities? What are health inequities? What’s the difference, if any?
Health disparity means the difference of health between the two groups of people. Some group of people are more prone to many of the diseases while other group may be prone to different kind of disease.
For example, African American are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases where as Asian American are prone to diabetes. The race, ethnicities, beliefs, geography, income etc. are the major health disparities.
These disparities can be tackle by concentrating on the particular group which are more prone to developing the disease or the disorders. Effective plans and care only handle the health disparities. Proper intervention should be made to remove the health disparities.
Birth outcomes, like other health indicators, follow the wealth-health gradient. Explain why wealthier and more educated mothers have better outcomes. According to the film, why do African American women at each income level have worse outcomes than their white counterparts?
Birth outcomes describe health at birth. These outcomes, for example, low birth rate shows a child's morbidity. Measures such as the rate of infant mortility and low birth rate can be used to examine inequality in maternal and child health. Generally, it is found that wealthier and more educated mothers have better outcomes because they have security and less stressful environments. These women have many resources to live a healthy life.
On the other hand, American African women have negative impact of racism. It increases stress which makes nourishment to the baby difficult. The stress of racism have a great impact on pregnancy and they do not have good resources as well. As a result, African American women have worse outcomes than their white counterparts.
How are pregnancy outcomes affected by racism and chronic stress? How are racial differences in birth outcomes not reducible to class alone?
Racism increases stress, therefore, chronic stress moves blood flow to muscles. Making nourishment to the baby/placenta difficult. Minorities in high classes still have infant mortality rates.
Racism has been defined as a multidimensional construct that
involves the oppression, domination, and denigration of individuals
by other individuals and by social institutions on the basis of
skin color and membership in a particular ethnic group. It has been
linked to a variety of mental and physical health outcomes
including maternal stress during pregnancy.
