This is mainly done to eradicate or kills the bacteria. The sterile processing can be achieved through various means such as heat, chemicals, filteration, sanitization, pasteurization etc.
The sterilization process completely helps the patients to be protected from harmful bacteria and other pathogens during the procedures. This plays an important role to reduce the risk of infection and its spread from one patient to another.
Disinfection is mainly done in health care centers to eliminate pathogens or microorganisms which create infection in people. Chemicals are mainly used in disinfection,Unfortunately, many bacterias are not destroyed by disinfection. Hence it is proved that sterilization is more effective than disinfection.
Moreover, disinfection plays a vital role to prevent and control infection. The selection of type of disinfectant, its time of exposure and concentration depends completely on the type of infection in which the equipment or device exposed to.
