Expert Solution

Sir Ronald Aylmer Fisher(1890-1962): A British statistician who created the foundations of modern statistical science. This statistician analysed data from crop experiments and developed analysis of variance(ANOVA). His other contributions to statistics include method of maximum likelihood and deriving properties of maximum likelihood estimators, fiducial inference, the derivation of many sampling distributions, principles of design of experiments. Fisher had a keen interest in evolution theory and he combined his training in statistics with his avocation for genetics.

In 1924 he created F-distribution (names after him). He is known as father of modern statistics. He also helped to improve the Chi-squre test. He provided an exact test for goodness of fitto calculate the p-value (with low number of observations). This is known as Fisher's exact test.He wrote a proof for Gosset's student's distribution. Ha had contributed to permutation distributions, sufficiency, asymptotic optimality theory.
