Ticket scalping is illegal in many states because some people think it is unfair to people who wait in the lines. Do you think it is a good idea to forbid ticket scalping? (Ticket scalping wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticket_resale.)
According to me its a good idea to forbid ticket scalping because its cons are way bigger than its pros. Ticket scalping may be positive for a fan who just managed to get a ticket for his favorite show at the last minute. But according to me, Ticket scalping has a large number of cons which are as follows:-
# A problem with this is that the increased value of the ticket goes in the packets of Scalpers instead of the venue providing the service.
# Another problem is that if the agent ( Scalper ) is willing to take a loss on some of his inventory, then he deliberately mark up the value of the tickets out of reach of the average buyers. That results in higher prices for all and a less than full venue because not everyone could afford those higher prices. This could be considered as break even or better for the scalpers but a it will result in a loosing customer base for the venue.
#Also in a situation of a show cancellation, the customer definitly loses out. Venues only reimburse at the original price of the tickets. This slams the customers who bought up tickets from the Scalpers and those Scalpers again keep a big profit out of this.
Cheers
