What factors need to exist for the international transfer of hazardous waste to be efficient?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Now-a-days hazardous waste management is a serious issue which can be handled at its best by using different technologies. There are four methods to reduce the amount of waste,i.e., source segregation, process modification, end-product substitution and material recovery & recycling. For the transfer of hazardous waste to its most efficient use, several recovery & recycling technologies can be applied along with other techniques.

Several factors can be considered while transfering hazardous waste into a number of efficient use.

1) First of all we need good research and development before applying any technologies to transfer of hazardous wastes.

2) Capital investment is necessary for new material purchase and other required equipments.

3) Additional manpower required to handle the transfer process. As there are lot of processes involved in the hazardous waste management system, starting from segregating to tranfering it into an efficient use, a good number of manpower is required.

4) Good public relation and cooperation is also needed for the entire process. Different firms and industries should be aware of the consequences of the hazardous waste and they should work for the separation of wastes at their end. Now it would be easy for the waste management personnel to transfer the hazardous waste into the most efficient form.

5) There should be continuous improvement in the process to make it more efficient.

Does the amount of hazardous material absorbed by the bodies of hazardous waste workers depend on gender? You want to test the hypotheses that the amount absorbed by men (group 1) is different from the amount absorbed by women (group 2). A random sample of 212 male workers and 114 female workers showed an average lead absorption in the blood of 12.59 (SD = 1.897) and 12.75 (SD = 0.621), respectively (measured in micrograms/deciliter). Assuming that the population standard deviations...

An article in the journal Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Materials (Vol. 6, 1989) reported the results of an analysis of the weight of calcium in standard cement and cement doped with lead. Reduced levels of calcium would indicate that the hydration mechanism in the cement is blocked and would allow water to attack various locations in the cement structure. Ten samples of standard cement had an average weight percent calcium of 90.0, with a sample standard deviation of 5.0 and...
