For the following place an I for any that pertain to ionic bonding and a C for any that pertain to covalent bonding. You may use both for the same statement.
1. Type of bond commonly found in water-soluble organic molecules
2. Type of bond found in water molecule
3. Formed when two atoms share pairs of electrons from their outer shells
4. Forms a cation and an anion.
5. Forms a bond that physically connects the atoms
6. Creates an attraction between two ions that serves as a bond
7. Formed when two atoms share two pairs of electroons.
1. Type of bond commonly found in water-soluble organic
molecules
The answer is polar covalent bond. Non polar covalant bond
compounds are insoluble in water.
2. Type of bond found in water molecule
The answer is Covalent bond between oxygen and hydrogen it is the
result of sharing of elctrons. We can find the hydrogen bonds in
water also.
3. Formed when two atoms share pairs of electrons from their
outer shells.
The answer is covalent bond. As they shared only one pair of
electrons, that clear answer is single covalant bond.
4. Forms a cation and an anion.
The answer is Ionic bond. The most strong bond among. The positive
ion is reffered as cation and negative ion is reffered as
anion.
5. Forms a bond that physically connects the atoms
So many physical interactions are there...such as hydrogen bonds,
wander walls forces, hydrophic forces...etc.
6. Creates an attraction between two ions that serves as a
bond
The answer is ionic bond. The positive ion is called cation and the
negative ion is called anion.
7. Formed when two atoms share two pairs of electroons.
The answer is covalent bond. As they shared only two pair of
electrons, that clear answer is two covalant bonds. It is simply
reffered as double bond.
