In particular, to what extent and in what ways do these biases influence our perceptions of the identities and goals of those with whom we interact?  What are some possible explanations for the existence of these biases?

Sell at Split-Off or Process Further Decision, Alternatives, Relevant Costs Betram Chemicals Company processes a number of chemical compounds used in producing industrial cleaning products. One compound is decomposed into two chemicals: anderine and dofinol. The cost of processing one batch of compound is $70,000, and the result is 6,000 gallons of anderine and 8,000 gallons of dofinol. Betram Chemicals can sell the anderine at split-off for $12.00 per gallon and the dofinol for $6.05 per gallon. Alternatively, the anderine...

Geneticists have identified a number of mutations of the Drosophila gene, Dorsal. Most mutant alleles result in dorsalized embryos, i.e. all tissues are dorsal. But one mutant allele is dominant to wild-type and results in ventralized embryos, i.e. all tissues are ventral. How can these results can be explained? Choose from answers below. 1. Mutant Dorsal cannot bind Spätzle. 2. Mutant Dorsal cannot bind Cactus. 3. The Dorsal gene is constitutively expressed in the mutant. 4. Mutant Dorsal cannot bind...

Conjoint Analysis Imagine we are evaluating three hotels and have identified a conjoint model with three attributes. Two of the attributes (food and beach) have three levels, and the third, amusement, has two levels (see Table 1). We create a self-administered questionnaire. Four respondents are each asked to rate 18 packages (hotels) of attributes on a scale from 0 to 10. For example, a package/hotel might be : “A hotel with food featuring snacks, a beach with sand and boats,...
