You ask her to obtain AM blood glucose result for two diabetic patients. Fifteen minutes later, you find her standing in the hallways with the glucometer looking puzzled and uncertain,
How would you approach this situation using the principle of delegation? BE SURE TO LIST ALL OF THE OPTIONS RN SHOULD CONSIDER?
Skill test is necessary to know the competency of each individual. Effective delegation is also necessary for smooth functioning of an organization. The duties and responsibilities of certified nursing assistant is delegated by registered nurse. The CNAs is responsible for carry out the duties that are delegated by registered nurse or supervisors. There are some principles in delegation, that include
:defining the function __in this principle the supervisor should define the role of delegatees ,it will help the subordinate to clarify their role.
:defining the result__during delegation procedures the supervisor should talk about what is the expected result of their task.
:authority of responsibility _the subordinate have responsibility to follow the role delegated by supervisors.
:unity of command :there should only one supervisor for subordinate.the command is from only one direction it help to eliminate misunderstanding.
:define the limitation of authority__while delegating task we should clarify what all are the limitation of authority.
:principles of absolute responsibility ___when delegating the task full responsibility is lie on the superiors. This is the responsibility of superiors to ensure whether the subordinate done the activities properly or not. The superior do not blame the subordinate for their poor functioning.
:effective communication __help to easy delegation.
According to the principle of delegation the supervisor should communicate effectively with CNA and understanding her problems and find solution to her problem , demonstrate the procedure to her and encourage to do the activities. Monitor the activities are done by CNAs. From the above scenario the supervisor is responsible for the activities of her subordinate.the supervisors have not provision for blaming subordinate .
