1.Assess the client's feelings , values,and reasons for not following the plan of care .Patients often want to have more influence on decision making in the care than that they are actually afforded.(Tariman et al 2010)

2.Assess client to to identify both life and health related goals.Older individuals endorse health goals and disease management that are congruent with their life goals(Morrow et al ,2008)

3.Refer client to appropriate services needed.When appropriate referrals are missed or delayed ,clients often experience poor outcomes ,including complications,psychological distress,and hospital admissions.(Lebecque et al,2009)

4. Assess the client’s sensory and motor skills.It will help the nurse to know possible hindrances to the treatment.

5.Help client determine how to arrange a daily schedule that incorporates the new health care regimen (e.g., taking pills before meals).

6.. Refer client to social services for financial assistance if needed.
Information-seeking behavior is a strategy that many people use as a means of coping with and reducing stress when coping with an illness such as cancer (van der Molen, 1999).
