ANS: Qualified Immunity is one of the legal principle that grants the all government officials by performing discretionary functions of Immunity from all the civil suits unless the plaintiff shows the official violated "clearly established statutory or constitutional rights of which a reasonable person would have to be known".

For example, when any one of the police officer shots a 10 year old child while they trying to shoot the nonthreatening family dog.

While the qualifies immunity is not at issue in the prospection of the former police officer Derek chauvin and other three officers as they faces the criminal charges stemming from the Floyd's death.

Aa by removing qualified immunity could always open up public officials and police to unwarranted lawsuits , in which judges and juries could second- guess split second decisions and lead to significant costs for city, police officers, and other public officials.
