Expert Solution

I would first like to explain the meaning of course structure. Course structure means the selection of topics and the planning and succession of the course content. The selection of topics and their organized planning shall regularly assist and support the purpose and goal for the course

If I would be the instructor of a course, I will design the course structure and content in the form of what my students are interested in learning, and what they will achieve out of it. Before preparing the course content, it is important to first decide the goals and the skills you need to inculcate in your students, and then accordingly prepare the course structure. The goals should me made which brings in personal development, communication skills, cognitive development, cognitive skills, representation skills, and problem solving skills in the students.

Then once the course structure and course goals are decided, the next step will be the process for achieving those goals. The process includes the teaching methods which are compelling, interesting and captivating, design exams, assignments, case studies and composing different types of questions which develop interest and make the college class interactive.

Traditional lectures nowadays are not effective. Traditional teaching techniques was just memorizing the studies and the information, which helps in no way to develop skills. Hence there should be very challenging learning activities which will help the students in developing skills.

  1. The best effective ways to pass the knowledge to college students would be designing the questions which effectually test the students understanding of the subjective concept.
  2. Design different class activities which encourages all the students to participate. The class activities should be based on the concept and the topic in the course structure.
  3. Videos can also be shown for in depth explanation and demonstration of the concept.
  4. Plan in such a way as to make the class very engaging, encouraging and interactive with your talks.
  5. The class can be provided with contemplative and challenging question and independently asking each one of them to explain for a minute. Through this we will come to know the understanding of how much they have understood the concept.
  6. Include activities like field work by explaining some concepts practically.
  7. Designing a question using a practical example which encourages them to learn about the real life situations with ease.

By concluding, I would say an instructor should follow all this in a well organized manner and see to it that all the college students are developing knowledge and skills through the course structure and goals designed.

One way to evaluate the effectiveness of a course instructor is to examine the scores achieved by his or her students in an examination at the end of the course. Obviously, the mean score is of interest. However, the variance also contains useful information - some teachers have a style that works very well with more able students but is unsuccessful with less able or poorly motivated students. A professor sets a standard examination at the end of each semester...
