1. b. What herbs/supplements does vitamin C interact with and why? How could you change someone's diet to reduce the likelihood of these reactions?
Provide a thorough answer in your own words based on research.
vitamin c interacts with Aluminium, that is present in antacids. there intraction is not clear. to reduce this interaction, vit c should be taken before 2 hour or after 4 hour of antacids.
vitaminc interacts with estrogen: vit c reduces the breakdown of estrogen in the body. normally our body should get rid of estrogen quickly. therefore vit c taken with estrogen enhance the side effects of estrogen.
vit c interaction with prolixin decreases the effectiveness of prolixin.
also vit c decreases the effect of some cancer drugs, HIV drugs, niacin, warfarin: because of antioxidant property of vit c effectiveness of cancer drug is decreases. niacin role is to increase the level of good cholesterol is also effected by vit c along with selenium, beta carotene and vitamin E. warfarin used in the treatment of blood cloting therefore, interaction of warfarin with vit c increases the chance of blood clotting problem.
to reduce the likelihood of this reaction weshould limit the dosage of vitamin c in our diet as suggested by the health care. we smust consult them in regular basis and have our blood test regularly.
