Samsung and Apple are the two main competitors in US smartphone market, with their main products being, respectively, the Galaxy and the iPhone. Each year both companies release slightly updated versions of each product, and when these versions are released, they become more differentiated than their competing products.

For this discussion, assume that Samsung just released a new version of the Galaxy, and it is now the most differentiated smartphone available (meaning it has the most unique features of any phone available for sale). In your post discuss how Apple might respond to the release of the new Samsung Galaxy.

Apple can respond in multiple ways to the release of the new Samsung phone.Apple needs to boost it's research and revenue in order to make the new Iphone that it releases marginally more attractive than the new Samsung phone released.Apple should also monitor the reaction of the market and the consumers to the new features added by Samsung in it's most recent offering and attempt to replicate it's utility in its own product if the market reacts strongly enough.Apple can also compete with Samsung on price by offering higher utility around the same price point while being boosted the luxurious brand image that it enjoys.
