Nutritional deficiency in a developing county: write a Case study (example in the media) or experience (can use articles)?
Malnutrition is characterized by the deficiency of the major proteins as well as micronutrient imparting a major health trouble in developing countries. Malnutrition is observed as a global problem as it is responsible for the illness and death of millions of pregnant women & young children worldwide. There are two principle form of the malnutrition:
Marasmus and kwashiorkor these are the type of protein as well as energy malnutrition.
Furthermore the key manifestation of the malnutrition in developing countries is deficiency in iron, iodine, vitamin A & zinc at community level. The communities suffer from high prevalence of poor diet & risks of the infectious disease periodically.
Furthermore it becomes more critical as there are little or no primary health services in the rural areas. Hence there is requirement to construct an effective protocol to offer primary health services in such area. Moreover the interventions to prevent protein and energy malnutrition should be carried out by the government on the ground level.
Then the breast-feeding should be supported by the food supplementation schemes.
For the example the fortification of salt with iodine has been proved as a global successful initiation and had set a milestone in this arena.
At the last there is need of the nutrition-education campaigns for the effective implementation of these interventions on the base level. It will also promote the community personals to achieve the hunger- and malnutrition-related Millennium Development Goals in the developing countries.
