a) What role does the UN System of National Accounts play in devaluing women’s unpaid labour?
b) What are other ways is work valued or devalued in society at large?
A- The UN System National Accounts or UNSNA is an international standard on how to compile measures of economic activity. The assessment process of SNA to unpaid women labor do not employ a proper understanding of the value of the labor so that this condition does not analyze the unpaid labor of women. In eastern countries where women spend their most time as a home worker and caretaker do not come in the rage of paid workers so their labor not get paid and assessed in economic conditions.
2- The valued in the society according to the income and expenditure but most labors work at home not get paid due to gender role and prejudice. If we think about the housewives who work at home to support their family does not come in the range of labor and not get paid. Their hard and responsible work devalued in society.
The economy depends on the exchange of goods and service while if we do not exchange goods and service, the labor count as social responsibility and devalued in economic structure.
