What role does the right to privacy play when considering the use of identification chips?
Today identification chips are becoming more popular among organizations for verification and tracking purposes. The RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) chip is the most common identification chip in the market and is used in credit cards, passports, and even in a human body. RFID chip read or transfer information through radio waves in a short-range distance.
This technology is useful for quick identification processes and tracking purposes. But it increases significant privacy concerns because these types of identification chips are very easy to hack. Using the tracking and identification information contained in this chip, anyone with an RFID tag or chip reader can read and track someone’s personal or tracking history without their knowledge or consent. So ensuring the security of information is essential while considering identification chips. Everyone has the right to protect their privacy and when technology with flaws that creates a door to exploit our privacy, we have every right to oppose it.
