According to Thomas Hobbes, what role does equality play in the state of nature?

Answer : According to Thomas Hobbes, "equality" refers to just the basic equal ability to conquer or kill one another, but this was quite consistent with his definition of power. He further stated that all men are equal and this natural equality very often leads to people fighting over things and arguements, which is what Thomas Hobbes means by the term “competition”. This is because everyone then thinks that he/she has a very decent chance of winning. Therefore, natural equality indirectly contributes to the rise of diffidence. Natural equality further contributes to glory and competition and then they produce diffidence. It may apparently seem very surprising but in reality our natural equality is the the root or basic cause for our downfall.
