Yes there are concerns regarding calorie intake; deficiencies or excesses of macronutrients or micronutrients – to having low iron and fiber as well as vegetables.

◯ Premature birth resulting in decreased iron stores
◯ Excessive intake of cows' milk in toddlers
■ Milk is not a good source of iron.
■ Milk takes the place of iron-rich solid foods.

◯ Malabsorption disorders due to prolonged diarrhea
◯ Poor dietary intake of iron
◯ Increased iron requirements (blood loss)
◯ Chronic disorders (folate deficiency, sickle cell anemia, hemophilia)
#. Strategies for improvement :-
- Having food containing citurs acid to help in absorption of iron
- Making dietary modifications (eg, taking iron with food or milk), although this may reduce absorption.
- Increasing intake of green leafy vegetables
- Taking iron tablets as prescribed
- Treating the cause behind the iron deficiency
