Describe the benefits and limitations of the use of technology in nursing education. Can technology be used to replace clinical hours in nursing education? Now a days simulation-based nursing education is getting huge popularity in health sector as it giver the opportunity to students to practice the clinical situations as a real time experience. Hence it is used to enhance the decision-making skills of the nursing students. Involvement of EHR (electronic health record) and related utilization of the tools increases the better patient outcomes. It enables the nursing students to analyze and store the patient data effectively. It is easier to learn the common practices based on these data. The can easily retrieve the informations.
Virtual simulation based learning trends are highly utilized by the nursing trainers to educate the students in more effective way to take the challenges of the growing sector.
Although in this global and competitive scenario the utilization of the technology in learning for nursing education is highly desired but at the same time there are some limitations of these tools.
These techniques fail in the case of individualization of the patients as it is based on the common patterns. In case of EHR there is issue of confidentiality of the data protection. There are chances of the data leaking. Hence as per the medical ethics it is desired to maintain this confidentiality.
Yes at the same time such practices of using the technology replace the clinical hours in the nursing practices as these enables the nursing staff to reduce their efforts and time. It has made the more challenging situation. Hence the use of technology can be used in very effective manner.
