To increase the voter participation
in the election, there are different approaches that can be
adopted. The first way is to increase the time period of voting and
it should be for more than 1 day or a voting window should be
created so that more people can find out time to vote. The second
way is to bring the voting system to the voters so that their votes
can be cast. It will increase the voter participation. Besides, the
third way is to increase the number of voting booths in corporate
areas when people can cast their vote without loss of the
work.
A democracy requires every citizen to come out and vote so that a
government truly elected by the majority of the people is formed.
If there is a lower turnout, then a true representative government
will not be formed and it will harm the true spirit of the
democracy. Besides, people may regret not voting if the government
takes decisions that are not good for the people.
Everyone should vote if they meet the certain criteria such as age,
education and the ownership of the citizenship of the country or
particular geographical area. It is required to be done so that
undue influence created by the illegal migrants or anti-social
element is prevented. So, there should be a set of criteria that
must be met to become an eligible voter.
