Do Theist need to answer the problem of evil? Can they?
No the theist need not answer the problem of evil, because the problem of evil is basically an argument that uses the existence of evil to challenge the idea of a benevolent God. A question posed by evil whether the world contain undesirable states of affairs. It is based on an argument that make is unreasonable to believe in existence of God. Theism defends the problem of evil by asserting that God allows an evil to happen in order to prevent a greater evil or to encourage a response that will lead to a greater good.
The problem of evil is problem of everyone. If God exist why evil is there and if god does not exist why we find evil. The existence of evil in world proof that god does not exist. There is no proof of God's benevolence; every evil thing is unquestioningly viewed as a Greater Good. You can also use some examples of cases where evil does not seem to lead to a greater good, especially with respect to the people who suffer. Ex: child rape, world hunger etc…
