Yes, statistics can be used to solve societal problem. Societal issue many be depend upon human population, its health and impact to the society, economically status etc. So, statistics is described in various area of societal problems. These problem well analyzed by health statistics, official statistics, social statistics. Thus, importance of statistics is policy formulation and planning for future development to lives better life for human being. Availability and appropriate use of statistics translate into better opportunity for people through providing evidence as a base for policy and decision-making for a nation, society and citizens. For example, Unemployment. Statistics is used to calculate the level of unemployment 4.7%, the level 10 years ago 9%, the correlations between unemployment and education, or health, or the cost of incarceration, or eye color is also observed. So statistics is used extensively to describe social problems and their correlations to various other aspects of social structure and individuals.
