Yes, it is understandable that difficult of working extra on the weekend. But at some circumstances, we should be adjustable to the situation.
Verbally she answered yes, but still it was an incomplete acceptance. The answer was not given in clarity. Tech could answer, yes ma'am or sir, I'll try or orelse can verbally inform supervisor then and there inconvenience.
Nonverbally, the way tech did was not correct to a supervisor. Paraverbally she stomps away, that shows inconvenience. But being a health worker, we have to take responsibility on such situations.
What action would take now?
Being supervisor, we should not act like subordinates. Think wisely and do genuinely
▪ Call the tech back and give a good clarity on the situation and make her understand.
▪ Counsel to her about behaviour
▪ Offer her an off or compensation day on coming days, which may make them more receptive.
▪ Counsel her on communication to the Co worker
How could handle the situation better?
▪ Discuss with the particular staff about the staffing issues. So she /he might understand
▪ Inform priorly about the possibility of weekend duty, so they can mentally prepare themselves
▪ Ensure Off day on the coming day
▪ Give orientation about the situation
