In Oakland city of Alameda country , California , has significantly health inequities by the race or ethnicity , income and place persist ,Many of the country's low income residents and residents of color live in communities that have faced historical and current disinvestment through public policies .This disinvestment affects communities condition such as access to economic opportunities and well maintained and affordable housing and high quality schools , healthy food and safe parks and clean water and air . These community conditions greatly affect health .At the invitation of the Joint Center for political and Economic studies national place matters initiative , Almenda country supervisor keith carson's office and the Almenda country place matters , an initiative that addresses community conditions through local policy change . There some issues in the Oakland city that has to be tackled as like tobacco control , teenage violence , occupational disease and injury , immunization , drug policy , lead screening , health disparities and many other key issues .

One of the earliest initiatives that focused on this complex issue that was called Social and physical Environments and Health Disparities , The National Institute of Environment Health sciences that examined the multiple aspects of social and physical environments that including the built environment , infrastructure , social environment and air quality and their relationship to health inquities in Detroit . , The inequities in food access across areas of Detroit are linked to dietary practices , the condition of the built environment for example ;- sidewalk condition and is associated with physical activity of resident s , air pollutant s impact blood pressure and with the strongest effects that documented among residents of southwest Detroit .
