what is the international legal and ethical regulation of elderly abuse
Elderly abuse can be either single or repetitive act or action happens in the relationship in which there is an expectation of trust that causes harm or distress to the person. There are certain laws which protects the elder individual from the abuse.
In late 970s when ederly abuse came into existence efforts were made focusing on safeguarding the person who has been abised through civil justice remedies. Criminal law too became involved in order to hold the alleged wrongdoer accountable. Specific units were formed in police department and prosecutor offices were made to deal with the criminal behaviour.
Only the Atlantic provinces Canada, Israel and member of states of US have legislation for the mandatory of reporting of the abuse of elders. Across US elderly abuse protection law has been enforced.
Important ethical consideration are autonomy, respect for Human Rights, beneficence and non maleficience, justice. There is code 4/02 which is related to privacy limitation and 4/05 relates to disclosure of information with regards to elder abuse
