What are the reasons for the appearance of US drug policies "softening" in the US?
USA suffers from illegal drug trafficking from Mexico. US government has fought a long fight against it. During Obama administration, Black Hawk helicopters were also deployed for prevention of drug trafficking. He gave the slogan "Health for Americans and War for Maxicans".
Here war was a word which was basically depicting drug war against Mexico. Rules against drug trafficking are so strong in USA. Prisons across the country are filled with criminals associated with illegal drug activities. This hardness and strictness from governement is being seen for few drugs only.
When it comes to the matter of drug like marijuana then we observe leniant view of US government. For many officials it looks like a health food for them. They advocate that illegal activities take place because they are illegal and it takes so much of hardships to get even a small amount of marijuna.
If this is legalised then its transportation will become easier and its cost will become reduced to a significant level. All these will cause hopelessness in its smugglers and step by step its illegal market will be flushed out. Officials have vague view on legalising marijuana.
At one point they are ready to invest in army for making an effective drug control but at the same point they seems so diplomatic that their rules and regulations seems to be so soften for making an effective drug control.
