What ethical principles and theories apply to the
issue of Fetanyl abuse and treatment?
Fentanyl is a strong opioid pain reliever, which is 50-100 times stronger than morphine, it can be used for the patients who have already received strong pain medications and developed resistance
It can be used for severe pain such as postoperative, and cancer pain. Due to its potency it is high potential for addiction
Fentanyl block the pain receptors and increase dopamine which keep the person happy, due to which it cause intense euphoria
Mixing fentanyl with other opioids will be more dangerous. And it should be always kept out of reach for children
Fentanyl should be always used along with pain medication
If the patient is at risk of opioid overdose, naxoline is prescribed to reduce the side effects of overdose
As fentanyl is a habit forming drug it should not be used for longer period
There are specialised inpatient and outpatient patient treatment centres which can help deaddiction of fentanyl
