Why is firm-specific learning better in general for an organization?
you are kindly requested to write a detailed answer.
the answer should include learning impact on firm
Organizations often prefer to "pay for"- specific skills training because it helps employees to perform their jobs more effectively. Specific skills are not portable and only useful at the incumbent firm. Job-specific skills training may be categorise as the most investment that an organisation make in the workforce. Training the employees in their core functional work will allow a candidate for employment to excel in a specific job and help the organisation to keep pace with changes. Updating employees on product knowledge, technical skills and software skills helps in building employee confidence and morale; and leads to quality performance of employees. On contrary, general training raises the worker’s productivity equally in all firms and due to their portability will be valuable on the spot market, thus skills gained from general training are transferable to other firms. Thus a firm-specific learning better in general for a business.
