(A) Agenda 21
- It is established on UNEP/Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro
in 1992. It is a non-binding action plan of United Nations members
with respect to Sustainable Development. It is to be implemented by
various agencies working together like NGO, goverment agencies,
multilateral institutions etc. For example - the Paris climate
commitment held on COP 21 of UNFCCC.
(B) ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social
Council)
- It is one of the six main principle organs of United Nations
established in 1945.
- It has 54 Members, each onenis elected by General Assembly for
three-year at a time.
- It coordinates the functions of various specialied agencies,
makes appropriate policies & recommendations on matters related
to economic, social and environmental issues.
