Question: What social and medical barriers do individuals returning home from prison face? How does this affect health? How does it affect the risk of recidivism?

Medical barriers: lacked of health insurance, lack of available resources for services and the competition for funding,disqualification fro medicaid eligibility, time consumption for restoration of eligibility, interupped access to prescription drugs.

Social barriers: low job prosective is one of the major barrier, learning new technologies, lack of access to food stamp, inability to vote,lost or change of social networks , housing barriers.

Affect on health: physical and mental health like depression, asthma and hypertension are common.

Physical and mental health plays a major role in recidivism. physical and mental health have a key implications for employment, financial stability, social relationships and recidivism. Inability to secure employment due to poor health conditions and lack of opportunities leads to depression,financial instabiliy,lack of social network,  family conflicts, substance abuse and increases the risk of recidivism
