The facility in which you are employed is undergoing many changes in senior leadership. You are the lead of the HIS department and it has been asked of you, whom do you believe your department should report to? The CEO of the facility hopes that by involving you in the decision a good fit will be made that will be mutually beneficial to all departments. The Director of Nursing believes that he should be in charge of HIS as there are many nurses in the hospital that use the system. You do not necessarily agree that the Director of Nursing is the best fit for the department. Who do you think the HIS department should report to – why?
Answer: The Hospital Department system consist of all the aspects of a hospital's operation, such as medical, administrative, financial, and legal issues and the corresponding processing of services. Hospital information systems provide a common source of information about a patient's health history. The system has to keep data in a secure place and controls who can reach the data in certain circumstances. These systems enhance the ability of health care professionals to coordinate care by providing a patient's health information and visit history at the place and time that it is needed. Patient's laboratory test information also includes visual results such as X-ray, which may be reachable by professionals.
As a lead of the HIS department, I think that I am the better person to facilitates about the changes in senior leadership as compared to the Director of nursing. Because as a lead of HIS, I know the most of the things and where the amendments should be done. Director of nursing has the specific knowledge about the nursing department only. But HIS department includes all the operations occurs in the hospital.
